Anima Ebria In Corpore Ebrio
From April 1st to May 27th
Opening on Friday 31 March – 6pm
Nicolas H. Muller opens his personal exhibition in Nice attacking the name of the place that hosts the show, « La Station », modifying it with « Last Action Heroes ». A tribute to the eponymous film (but also to the album Heroes by David Bowie). The transformation will only take place during a short intervention, immortalized by a photograph on the wall. Though the venue has taken back its original name, a doubt remains: are we really in the southern hall of the old cold stores of Nice or in a dystopian space?
Taking a look at the exhibition room, we are actually reassured by the presence of the white cube, meaning by convention that we are in a space of monstration.
Anima Ebria In Corpore Ebrio, which could be translated as A Drunken Mind in a Drunken Body, the title of the exhibition and a reinterpretation of the famous quote Anima Sana in Corpore Sano – a healthy mind in a healthy body – sets the tone: Nicolas H. Muller leads us into a whirlwind of references that collide and crystallize in the forms exhibited. If you are looking for the artist, he is the one with a cap jammed on his head.
Nicolas H. Muller’s exhibitions invite the visitor/prospector to explore them as a mental universe of signs and objects to be reinvented according to his own subject
He is invited to La Station for a carte blanche, during which he will call on five artists close to his practice.
With the invited artists:
Régis Fabre
Laura Gozlan
David Renaud
Céleste Richard-Zimmermann
Andreas Werner
