Pedagogical activities

La Station regularly welcomes pedagogical visits, the level of which ranges from kindergarten to students in higher education art schools, also middle schools and high schools with art majors.

Through the discovery of an art place, the child learns to behave adequately (to not speak loudly, not touch the art, not run around the exhibition…) whilst developing sensitive and intellectual capacities. By expressing his sensations, the child discovers his own sensibility. Through short visual exercises, he exercises his cognitive capacities: color, shape recognition, taking into account his body and objects in space… Elementary notions of art vocabulary are also given to him: a painting, a sculpture, a video, a drawing… For the eldest, it is a means to question the world and to concretely approach art history often restricted to books and museums. Mediation, although not eluding the theoretical and conceptual parts of the works shown, stresses here the conditions in which they are made: explains how an idea becomes a painting, a photograph, a sculpture… An essential step towards comprehension of what a piece of artwork is. Being an association, La Station does not forget its social role and favors the links of proximity: thus, students from the schools of Bon-Voyage, Pasteur and of the Lycée Apollinaire were welcomed several times. Consequence: the children invite their parents to come back to La Station, and thus create on their own sociocultural links…
