Presented in Nice for the first time, Babi BADALOV (born in 1959) is a wanderer, a forced nomad from Azerbaijan.

A political refugee in France since 2011, Babi BADALOV builds a poetic universe, rich with both his personal memories and societal questions: painting, poetry, performance and drawings are mixed in installations questioning the meaning, the significant and the norm of our contemporary societies.

His «visual poetry» also appears under the form of sketch books and collages, combining artistic and linguistic researches, and commenting the manipulation of images by the media.

This exhibition, made in partnership with the Gandy gallery (Bratislava), will be the subject of the publication of a catalogue during 2015 with the participation of Matali Crasset for the graphic arts, texts by Andrey Misiano and Vit Havranek, and a translation by Catherine Facerias (a production of the Gandy gallery and Balléor editions).
